
Interest Groups
We have many opportunities for social interaction at UUCF. You don’t need to be a member of our congregation to participate in any of our activities. Click on the group name that interests you and you will see a brief description of that group.
| All Souls Potluck and Salon Discussion |
| The All Souls Potluck begins at 5:30 pm with the Salon Discussion following at 6:30 pm. This group meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month in the social hall. Bring a dish (no pork or shellfish please) and enjoy the potluck. Can’t get there that early? No problem. All are welcome, even if just for the discussion part of the evening. | Bridge Group |
| The Bridge Group meets at 7 pm on the third Friday of every month. Players of all abilities are welcome. Contact Claude Coppel or Jane Livezey for the location and for more information. |
| Choir |
| Our choir members love to sing and to contribute their talents to our Sunday services. They also perform during some of our social events. Practices are held on Thursday evenings at 7 pm and on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Anyone interested may join. Being able to read music is a plus, but certainly not a must. | Circle Suppers |
| Circle Suppers are potluck meals served in the homes of our members 4-5 times a year. If you are new to the congregation or even if you’ve been around for awhile, this is a great way to make new friends. So sign up, bring a dish, and enjoy a good meal with intelligent conversation. | Drumming Circle |
| The Drumming Circle meets sporadically (when the mood strikes) to join with friends for a fun evening of drumming. They also perform at some of our services. No experience necessary. To be included contact Judi Herz, Minister of Music. |
| Foreign Foods Friday |
| Foreign Foods Friday is a group of “Foodies” who enjoy eating out together once a month and trying out all kinds of interesting cuisines. They meet on the fourth Friday of each month at a different restaurant each time. This is an open group and all are welcome to attend. | Fuddy Duddies |
| The Fuddy Duddies is a retirees’ breakfast club that meets at 9:30 am on the first Monday of each month at a different restaurant chosen by the members. It’s the monthly celebration of the arrival of the Social Security checks! Non-elders are welcome too. Contact Jan Lillibridge for more information. |
| Lunch Bunch |
| The Lunch Bunch is a group who get together every Sunday at 12:30 pm after our service to have lunch together at Marie Callender’s in Placentia. This is open to everyone and is a great way to get to know new people. Contact Pat Woodhull for more information. |
| Movie and Dinner with Rev. Jon Dobrer |
| This open group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 pm for dinner and a movie discussion at a local restaurant. A different movie is chosen each month. See the movie when you can on your own and then come to the restaurant for a lively discussion and a good meal. What a great way to keep up with the current movie scene. | The LTG Investment club |
| The “Lead to Gold” investment club is a group that was established by members who wanted to learn about investing in stocks. They have been around since 1990 and have been moderately successful with their investments. The cost is $100 to join and $35/ month for dues. The LTG club is a member of the National Association of Investment Clubs (NAIC). This membership gives them access to helpful advice from publications and from regional meetings. | The Men’s Lunch Group |
| The Men’s Lunch Group meets at Carrow’s Restaurant in Fullerton at 11:45 am on alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays. All men are welcome. Contact Brad Woodhull for more information. |
| The Red Hat Society |
| The Red Hat Society (aka Fullerton Fluuzies) has monthly outings with ladies of a certain age who are dedicated to having fun and sporting their purple outfits and red hats. Notice the 2 UUs in Fluuzies, showing their unique UU affiliation. Light hearted ladies welcome. Contact Fran Dobley for more information. |
| Tuesday Discussion Group |
| The Tuesday discussion group meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7 pm for a stimulating discussion led by our minister, Rev. Jon Dobrer. These discussions center on religious issues and are open to everyone. The topic is chosen by Rev. Dobrer and is announced ahead of time. See the calendar for this month’s topic. | Women’s Wisdom Circle |
| The Women’s Wisdom Circle meets on the first and third Monday of every month at 7 pm. It is open to all women who attend the church. A topic for discussion is chosen in advance. The meeting is structured to create a safe and caring environment for a free exchange of ideas. The goals of the group are to promote self understanding, to get to know each other better, and to grow in their daily lives. See the calendar for topic and location.
